Data Warehousing

Data Warehousing

Hi Everyone,

Probably not everyone's cup of tea (or cup of whatever you drink across
the pond), but I've a conceptual issue with a data warehouse design that
hopefully some of you gurus will enjoy chewing over on this Friday aft.

We plan to have (amongst others) a deliveries fact, a delivery bank
fact, and a financial services fact, which hold different data at
different levels about an order. Where I'm struggling, is the best way
to link these facts together if we wanted to analyse measures from each
one?

There seems to be two options - either we have the order number as a
degenerate dimension on each table and use this to link with (but not
sure how), or have an order header dimension that links to each one?

Any clues on the best way to do this, general does/don'ts etc?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks
Rick

P.s. Happy Friday!
