What port is your SQL Server on? Could it be an ODBC connection error ?
The dynamic port setting may be looking at 1433 when it is actually on a
different port?

Subject: Connection failed error
Hi,
I have a remote user that is connecting to our network through a VPN.
When he tries to log in to the CRM application that uses sql db, he gets
an error. Our local users are not having this issue. The remote user
is running XP Pro, SP 2. SQL Server 2000 is being run on a Windows 2000
Server, SP 4.
Connection failed:
SQLState: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 11001
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP
Sockets]ConnectionOpen(connect())
Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Server Error: 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]Specified SQL Server
