Re: Fresh Install or Upgrade

Re: Fresh Install or Upgrade

I would do a fresh install.

Moreover, after attaching or restoring the databases I would run the
following on all of them to enable new SQL2005 features:

Allways:

ALTER DATABASE [dbname] SET PAGE_VERIFY CHECKSUM;
DBCC CHECKDB ('dbname') WITH DATA_PURITY;
DBCC UPDATEUSAGE ('dbname');

Doublecheck with your Application Vendor:

EXECUTE sp_dbcmptlevel [dbname], 90;

Fresh Install or Upgrade

If you were upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to 2005 would you do a fresh
install or would you just upgrade, I ask this because sometimes I think a
clean install just works that much better.. and has less residue issues..

Any input?
