Have you installed the Oracle client? I could not set up a linked server
without it. I used the 9i client for MSSQL 2K and the 10.1.0.2 client for
MSSQL 2K5.

Basically, you need the Oracle network and management components I think...

Hello All!

I'm trying to setup a linked server from SQL2000 to Oracle10g using this
syntax:

EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'HKEMSLO', 'Oracle', 'MSDAORA', 'LOHK'
EXEC sp_addlinkedsrvlogin 'HKEMSLO', 'FALSE',NULL, 'user', 'password'

and keep getting this error:

Error 7399: OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' reported an error.
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSDAORA' IDBInitialize::Initialize
returned 0x80004005: ].

What am I doing wrong??
