So, are you applying the latest FULL, then most recent differential (if
made) with the STANDBY option (aka read only waiting on more backups to
apply) ? then subsequently applying log backups as they come in? I would
take care with the GUI, something is coming unstuck and you really need to
run profiler whilst using it to determine what the possible issues are. For
example, the GUI may be creating a backup device of type file but then
failing to alter this correctly with the latest log (just a guess). Tracing
out the backups then the restore will paint the picture for you.
