I don't think you can do that, but you could either have a job the does a merge split every week (which includes dropping files and filegroups and creating new ones. Or create a column that has 2 values (eg 1 or 0) and frequently do updates on the table to change the value so the record gets moved IF you partition on that column.

Is it possible to use a dynamic function in the partition function statement? I'd like to partition a sql 2005 table into two partitions containing active data (data < than one week old) and > 1 week. Is this even possible?
