RE: Port Number Conflict

RE: Port Number Conflict

I would change both port numbers to something other than 1433. This will
help solve your issue and provide you with something additional security.

Subject: Port Number Conflict

Hi all,

I am having a tricky situation which I want to resolve as soon as possible.

SQL Server 2005 was installed on the Windows 2000 box as a default instance.
Then, SQL Server 2000 was installed on the same box as a named instance,
with default port number i.e. 1433

Now, whenever I try to connect to SQL Server 2000, it gets connected to 2005
only as it is also running on the same port number. Changing port number on
2000 doesn't seem to be helping me out.

Now what I can do to get out of this situation?

Thank you. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
