I have a reporting database that contains replicated data from our OLTP
database. I am working on our DR (disaster recovery) solution for this
reporting database. In the event of a disaster, it is important that
this database be up relatively soon afterwards. Also, I think I should
have replication up before users are allowed back in so that I am not
setting up replication while they are accessing the OLTP database.
Because of that, I need to have the reporting database back in place
right away so I can create replication right away as well. Given the
choice, would it be better and more efficient to mirror the subscriber
database or have two different subscribers to the publisher? All
instances are SQL Server 2005.
FYI... my original plan was to restore the reporting database from a
backup. However, there is potential that I will not be able to get to
the server to restore the backup in a timely manner because of all of
the restores that will need to be done at that time.
Thanks,
