When you say virtual server do you mean that you changed the computer name
in the Surface Area Configuration window to the virtual name? That's all we
had to do when we configured our cluster.

Subject: Unable to connect to surface area configuration
hi
we are on sql2k5 sp2 /win2003 sp1. it is two node clustered
environment.
while try to connect to surface area configuration for services and
connections or any other link on the page. i am getting the below error.
i tried to do the same in both physical machine and virtual server.
Computer localhost does not exist on the network, or the computer cannot
be configured remotely. Verify that the remote computer has the
required Windows Management Instrumentation components and then try
again. (SQLSAC)
Additional information
->An exception occured in SMO while trying to manage a service.
(Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
-> Failed to retrieve data for this request.
(Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum)
-> Invalid class (System.Management)
Also i am unable to open the sql server configuration manager and
getting error 'unable to connect'
but we can connect to the database with no problem. only in the
configurations sucks.
localhost entry in the hosts file looks good.
can anyone help me
thanks in advance
