You will need this option switched on or you'll get an error. So you're
partially right! It doesn't switch off the transaction log, but it will
prevent you dumping the log if you have done a BCP or other non-logged
operation.

Oh whoops, I've just advised using the select into/bulcopy option; I thought
it did turn logging off.
