Transaction log backs up every 4 hours. And following the deletes we've got
a trans log of around 3 gigs. That totally blows away the drive space on
the pathetic server. Surely MS has built in a way to have bulk
inserts/deletes not logged.

This is functionality that they need? You could backup the transaction log
more frequently (will increase recovery time in a disaster). You could
increase the size of the log, or set truncate log on checkpoint if you don't
want full recovery options.

Be very careful what you set because you could affect the ability to recover
from a disaster.
