Susan,
Do you have MS SQL 6.5? if not the upgrade option will be gray out.
this is used for MS SQL 6.x to SQL 2k upgrade only.

To: [Email Address Removed] SQL 7 to SQL 2000 upgrade woes
I'm in the middle of a SQL 2000 Admin class and am trying
a custom lab of upgrading SQL 7 to SQL 2000. However, I'm
running across an issue I've not seen before. After I
install SQL 7 and try to perform the SQL 2000 upgrade, the
upgrade option is greyed out entirely. However, if I
continue on in the setup, the default instance option is
greyed out as well. It's almost as if SQL 2000 on 'kinda'
sees the SQL 7 install. I've tried stopping and starting
services, rebooting, the whole 9-yards. Whether I use the
eval versions or full versions of each is immaterial, as
we've just tried both.
If you have any input, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Susan
