We are utilizing linked servers within MS, as well as to DB2 os/390 and
as/400 without any major issues, and response time is great. We
occasionally get a hicup causing the link to fail however recycling the sql
service resolves that issue. That happens maybe once every 5 or 6 months
and is most often with the AS/400.
