Take a look at xp_smtp_sendmail at www.sqldev.net
We use it here for all emails out of SQL Server.

Hi,
I want to start using mail features in my SQL server, so I am checking
out what alternatives there are.
Some I've read about:
SQL mail - needs MAPI client like outlook, so I'm thinking 'no'...
Using CDO - needs IIS and SMTP on SQL server (although you can specify
a smart host), so I'm thinking 'no'... Jmail - seems like a good
option. Blat CDOSYS - seems a good option.
Any thoughts on the above, or some other option I don't mention?
