Kevin,

I really don't think you want to do points 2 and 3, especially point 3. What
if you have more than 6 concurrent queries? You zapped all your RAM!!! Leave
those as the defaults - just give the OS a bit more to play with.

Here's what I'd do with an 8Gb dedicated SQL Server box (no other apps on
it):

1) Dynamic memory between 0 and 7.5Gb.
2) Untick 'Reserve physical memory for SQL Server'
3) Minium query memory - leave at 1024KB.

We didn't feel like SQL was using the massive amount of RAM it had to
play with (even we under a heavy load)
So...
1. we switched it to static memory (6GB)
2. I checked the box that says "Reserve Physical Memory for SQL Server"
3. we set minimum query memory to 1 GB
