If you have SQL Server and Books online on your local machine there is a lot
of information about Trace located within. Use the below URL to navigate to
scans started and stopped for more information.

insql.chm::/ad_mon_perf_8h2x.htm
BOL has information about pretty much every subject you can think of
concerning SQL Server. It's an incredibly valuable resource for DBA's and
people just starting to use SQL Server.

Subject: Identify Scans on Profiler
Hey People,
Thanks for all your help the other day with backups etc, and its working a
treat! Also have taken advise about using Profiler. In the trace setup,
there is an event called Scan:Started. Am I right in thinking that this is
for checking which tables are scanned which may be due to insufficient
indexing? Also if I am right, how can you get profiler to show which table
it's scanning? I keep getting loads of events saying Scan:Started but no
text appears next to it and basically isnt much help at all. Any advise
would be great!
Thanks!
Meg
