I can't unsubscribe

If you're unsubscribing because you're getting too many emails, then you need the digest version of the list. In this mode you only get one email a day , but can still ask questions of the 1000's of dba's in the community.

Click here to switch to digest mode

If you want to remove yourself from the dba self help community completely: Here's the procedure :

Send a blank email to :

Depending on which group(s) you've subscribed to. For example , if you've only subscribed to the oracle group, then only send a blank email to oracledba-unsubscribe @ lazydba.com, if you've subscribed to the db2 group as well, then send another blank email to db2udbdba-unsubscribe @ lazydba.com. You get the picture.

Make sure that there are NO SPACES around the '@' symbol. As obvious as this may seem, this has actually confused some people. Spaces have been put in above to prevent the addresses being picked up by spam robots. Not that it maters all that much, but every little bit helps.

Now come's the magic

You will get a confirmation email which you have to reply to. This is to prevent people unsubscribing each other willy nilly. I know you wouldn't do it, but the other's might. You know what they're like.

You must reply to the confirmation email(s)

And there's a time limit, so it's best to do it straight away, once you receive it. You'll get the confirmation email within an hour. You have a few hours to respond, before the unsubscribe request is internally cancelled. You must reply to ALL confirmation emails you get. E.G. replying to an oracle unsubscribe confirmation email, won't get you off the mssql group.

Did I mention that you must reply to the confirmation email?

Oh, yes, I did.

Didn't get a confirmation message?

You had to reply to a confirmation message to actually join, so unless you've blocked something since then, the confirmation message system works with your setup. Normally when people say they didn't receive a confirmation message, it means they didn't look hard enough for it in their folders.

My email address has changed due to a merger/whatever and I'm still getting emails from my old email address, but can't send from my old email address

If you have a problem like this, or the automated system doesn't work, then contact us using the "I would like to contact you for information not covered here" link in the contacts section of the website.

BUT

You must copy & paste the error you get from the automated system to get our attention, or say that you never received the automated confirmation email or describe what you did to attempt to unsubscribe. If you simply say "I can't unsubscribe", without telling us what you did to try to unsubscribe, then you will be ignored.

We will then contact you manually to confirm that it was you and not someone else who requested that you be unsubscribed. This is a slow and painful process, so go through the automated process, and don't think it'll somehow be quicker if you get some hoomans involved and bypass the automated procedure.

Again, I'm not saying that you'd do that, but you know what some people can be like.

If none of the above works, then you might want to buy the Eagle's "Hotel California". Anyway, it's been cool having you, and we hope that you come back soon!
